First of all, welcome to Ellsworth Elementary School (EES)! We are so glad you're here.
Kindergarten is an exciting new season of life for children ages 5-6. It isn't uncommon, though, for there to be a little apprehension and uncertainty too (for parents and guardians included). To put your and your students' mind at ease, and to assist with a smooth transition to the "big kid school," Ellsworth Elementary staff are here to serve you.
Below you will find helpful resources as you prepare for registration, as well as what to expect as a new family in the District. Students who have turned 5 on or before August 31 may enroll in Kindergarten at EES.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school secretary at 785-472-5554.
Keep in mind, families of students living more than 2.5 miles+ from the nearest bus stop and are within the district territory, must indicate on their enrollment registration that they would like travel reimbursement. The District will pay mileage for trips made, not to exceed two round trips per day.
Parents of new Kindergarten Students will be sent a link via SeeSaw in early August to sign up for a Kindergarten Interview. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and their Kindergarten will attend.
Why Kindergarten interviews?, you may ask. Kindergarten brings many new experiences. To ensure success for each new student, we like to get to know each student and family before placing them in a classroom.
It's time to make your Kindergartener official! Enroll in-person at Ellsworth Elementary School. Be sure to provide copies of enrollment documents to the school.
Download your complimentary "First Day of Kindergarten" print out and get ready for those First Day of School picture keepsakes!
Doors open at 7:40AM and school is dismissed at 3:05PM at EES.
Discuss after-school plans with your student. Refer to our Drop-off/Pick-Up Map.
Our mission at EES is to prepare students for lifelong success through rigorous, quality academic instruction, career training, and character development according to each student's talents.
We believe these elements of success are accomplished with cooperation among students, parents/guardians, staff and the community.
Throughout the year, your Kindergartener may acquire costs for various things. We want to provide you with an estimate for what to expect so you can plan accordingly.
Providing for your student should never be burdensome. If you need assistance for anything, please do not hesitate to talk to the school social worker or principal. There are local resources to connect with.
