Mr. Brian Hutchinson grew up in Russell, Kansas. He graduated from Russell High School in 1997. He attended Fort Hays State University graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts focusing on a split emphasis in Drawing and Printmaking and a second major in secondary school education. He taught K-12 art in Meade, Kansas USD 226 from 2004-2007. He returned to Graduate School at Fort Hays State University in the spring of 2007. He taught beginning printmaking classes as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at FHSU from 2007-2009. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree with a major concentration in Printmaking and a minor concentration in drawing. He began teaching at Ellsworth High School in the fall of 2009.

    Mr. Hutchinson exhibits his artwork in invitational, competitive, and collaborative exhibitions often. He first started showing when he was accepted into the Gerry Neustrom Young Artist Challenge in 1996. His work has been shown in regional, national and international juried competitions. He has been awarded two dual exhibitions and one solo exhibition. His work has been collected by individual patrons, regional galleries, and is catalogued in the collections of Junction City Arts Council, Fort Hays State University and Clemson State University. He works with sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking, and ceramics. His hobbies include origami, juggling, fishing, Frisbee golfing, Tennis, gardening, collaborating with other artists, and wailing on the tambourine.
